Andrew Henry's Emergency Vehicle Photos
Inangahua Junction Volunteer Rural Fire Force
For anyone who owns or operates a preserved fire appliance or who has an interest in securing our fire service heritage for future generations, the Fire Service Preservation Group is the main UK organisation to join. The FSPG website gives full details about the group, the benefits of being a member, services available to members and how to join (complete with membership form). There is also a list of UK events where preserved fire appliances will be displayed.
Andrew Henry's Emergency Vehicle Photos
Andrew Henry has travelled worldwide photographing all kinds of emergency vehicles, especially fire appliances, and his website contains some highly interesting images. Whilst it is appreciated that one of the principal objectives of the site is to advise enthusiasts about the photographs and slides which he can supply, Andrew has picked out some superb pictures for his pages which cover the UK, Europe, Australia, India, South Africa, the USA and the Far East. Andrew is renowned for his photographic expertise and this is aptly illustrated by his website.
Ken Reid MBE is a lifelong fire brigade enthusiast having served for more than 32 years with the Fife Fire and Rescue Service. During this time he has gathered together a huge collection of good quality fire service photographs, copies of which are available for sale. But although fire appliances, police vehicles and ambulances form the bulk of the collection, pictures of other varied vehicles including fairground, heavy haulage, trams, circus, traction engines, recovery vehicles and cranes are available from the 'Reid' stable.
Kev's website contains such diverse subjects as amateur radio, computing and music and his Fire Pages will be of great interest to every fire historian and enthusiast. They contain a wealth of information from the prewar and National Fire Service era as well as full details about all the Cornwall County Fire Brigade's Austin Loadstars and Gipsies. Kev, a Senior Fire Control operator with the Devon Fire and Rescue Service, is a member of the Fire Brigade Society and the Fire Service Preservation Group and he is also in the process of restoring a pair of Austin Gipsy L4Ps, his family having owned a Bedford TJ / HCB-Angus WrL for many years.
Karl Downton is a wholetime (career) firefighter with the Oxfordshire Fire Service and he is based at Kidlington where the brigade's Volvo heavy rescue tender is on the run. This has enhanced his considerable interest in this type of fire appliance and his website is dedicated to "all things heavy rescue." Naturally a considerable chunk of the site is American orientated and there are some excellent links to US rescue companies. The UK page contains images of heavy rescues from several county brigades many of the pictures supplied by FAI's FireFotos collection. There is also a page dedicated to Kentland Volunteer Fire Department in Maryland, USA.
