FIRE-AID INTERNATIONAL

GUYANA FIRE SERVICE

The Guyana Fire Service has benefited from a considerable input of UK government funding which provided a number of fire appliances plus a large amount of equipment. The aid package followed a fact finding tour of the South American country's fire brigade by Bournemouth based fire consultant Simon H. Adamson. Fire-Aid International sourced the appliances and where necessary carried out refurbishment before shipping the vehicles via the Port of Felixstowe, UK to Georgetown, Guyana. Some of the vehicles and a quantity of equipment, including breathing apparatus, were donated by UK fire brigades. This is an ongoing project. Three pumping appliances which were donated by brigades are illustrated on this page - other appliances were purchased from Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, Essex and Buckinghamshire.
